LUCY FLOURNOY

Lucy Flournoy works internationally as physical theatre artist, theatremaker, dancer, singer and teaching artist. Her artistic process focuses on interdisciplinary, multimedial, collaborative devising. The body serves as both the source of ideas and the main storytelling medium in her work, often complemented by original music compositions and visuals. She draws from a rich and colorful background in a variety of performative arts, including swing dance, mime, masked theatre, contemporary dance, contact improvisation, clowning and musical theatre.
Originally hailing from Columbus, Georgia, USA, Lucy holds an Artist Diploma in Physical Theatre from the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany, and a Bachelor of Arts in German Studies from Davidson College. Her earliest stage experiences were gleaned at the Springer Opera House & the Springer Theatre Academy in her hometown. Lucy is currently based between Berlin (Germany) and Atlanta, Georgia (USA). |
Lucy Flournoy arbeitet international als Bühnenkünstlerin und Lehrende. Sie ist sowohl als Performerin, Tänzerin und Sängerin als auch Theatermacherin, Choreografin und Regisseurin tätig. Ihr künstlerischer Prozess konzentriert sich auf die interdisziplinäre, multimediale und kollaborative Entwicklung von Stücken (Devising). In ihrer Arbeit dient der Körper sowohl als Ideenquelle als auch als zentrales Erzählmedium, häufig ergänzt durch neue Musikkompositionen und visuelle Elemente. Sie schöpft aus einem vielfältigen Erfahrungsschatz in unterschiedlichen performativen Künsten, darunter Swing-Tanz, Mime, Maskentheater, zeitgenössischer Tanz, Kontaktimprovisation, Clownerie und Musiktheater.
Lucy kommt aus Columbus, Georgia (USA), und besitzt ein Artist Diploma in Physical Theatre der Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen sowie einen Bachelor of Arts in Germanistik vom Davidson College. Ihre ersten Bühnenerfahrungen sammelte sie am Springer Opera House und an der Springer Theatre Academy in ihrer Heimatstadt.
