Lucy Flournoy works internationally as a theatremaker, physical theatre actor, performer, singer, dancer and teaching artist. Her artistic process focuses on interdisciplinary, multimedial, collaborative devising. The body serves as both the source of ideas and the main storytelling medium in her work, often complemented by original music compositions and visuals. She draws from a rich and colorful background in a variety of performative arts, including swing dance, mime, masked theatre, contemporary dance, contact improvisation, clowning and musical theatre, among others.
Born in Georgia, USA, (1889) Lucy has a Bachelor of Arts in German Studies from Davidson College (2011) and an Artist Diploma in Physical Theatre from the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany (2020). Her earliest stage experiences were gleaned at the Springer Opera House & the Springer Theatre Academy in Columbus, Georgia, USA. Lucy is currently based in Essen, Germany.
